Funding Opportunity through ISRN

Two Improvement Science Research Network (ISRN) Studies are open to a limited number of collaborating hospital-based Site PIs. The conduct of these studies is supported by the ISRN Coordinating Center, including protocol guidance, IRB assistance, data analysis, and site reporting.

The studies are:

STAR-2 + Study on Frontline Nurse Engagement in Quality Improvement- Download application>>

This study is an expansion of the first ISRN Network Study, Small Troubles, Adaptive Responses (STAR-2): Frontline Nurse Engagement in Quality Improvement. In this study, Frontline nursing staff will use specially-designed pocket cards to detect small problems (also known as operational failures) that prompt work inefficiencies and suboptimal care quality. Impact of Cognitive Load on Medication Errors- Download application >>

In this second wave, ten additional hospitals will have the opportunity to partner with the ISRN on a research collaborative for healthcare improvement. The aim of the study is to describe cognitive load, interruptions, and distractions experienced by registered nurses during medication administration and explore how these impact procedural failures and medication errors.
